The Melbourne hip hop creative is jumping to a new level in 2020 with his debut EP ‘JXYSWORLD’.

Thanks for having a chat with us Jay and congratulations on the release of your debut EP JXYSWORLD. How are you travelling with life and the pandemic?

Thank you for having me, appreciate that! I'm trying to look at the pandemic and lockdown state in Melbourne as a way to really get creative and come up with some fresh ideas. I've mostly been creating reference tracks for future releases and just letting my creativity flow out, see what i can come up with

How has COVID affected your processes and the development of your artist brand? Can you shed some light on what your studio sessions look like now?

I used to go to a professional studio in Melbourne 7 days a week (Marshall St Studios), but since stage 4 lockdown forced us to close, I've been working from home. I got a home studio set up, so i can just record whenever i want which is kind of a good thing because if i come up with a flow or some lyrics in my head the microphone is right here ready for me to record whenever!

Tell us a little bit about what this EP means to you

I like to look at this EP as an intro to my portfolio and career. I made these 6 tracks in the span of a week, but structured the tracks in a way to show my diversity. The EP starts off with some lit, hype tracks and slowly transitions into more slower and melodic songs. Finishing with the outro which is more like an intro to the sound I'm also looking to progress through in some future tracks, the outro is really short so its like a little tease

We had a listen to the debut in full and the stand out track for us is definitely Catch My Drift. Love that energy! What was the experience like working with Lil Jaye?

Me and Jaye are cool, we've been working a lot at the studio and our style fits each other. I recorded this track with no 2nd verse and I thought he'd be perfect to jump on it, showed him the track and he did his thing in literally 10 minutes it was a vibe

What do you want people to know about the Jay Saad project? Whats on the horizon?

This is only the beginning, I've been working hard to craft my sound and choose which lanes I'll be tapping into in the music scene. This EP is a little collection of what I made, I've got so much more tracks in the vault and music videos planned, and I'm really trying to help put the Australian Hip-Hop scene in the right image and help make it get the attention and growth it deserves, there is hella underground artists that no one has heard about who are real talented, I'm trying to help create that path with everyone else in the industry
