A Quick Chat with Javier & The Wave

How would you describe Javier & The Wave to someone hearing you for the first time?

Freedom, love and awareness. Our songs talk to the minds and hearts of people through music and blending genres. It’s feel-good music!

‘Away’ came from a meditation and a feeling of wanting to step outside society’s expectations. What was happening in your life when you wrote it?

I was feeling so much pressure from the system, forgetting that the main thing is to enjoy day by day.

Your music brings together reggae, rock, funk, R&B and Latin sounds. Which influences are coming through strongest at the moment?

My strongest influences now are R&B and Reggae. But I have to say that Earth, Wind & Fire always have a strong place in my musical journey.

You’re playing the Corridor Project in September and Zest Fest in November. How are you feeling about these bigger shows?

Thankful. I love the opportunity to share our music and message with as many people as possible. And it is beautiful to see big crowds grooving to music with a conscious message.

What are you most looking forward to about playing Zest Fest?

Play our music to more people from Western NSW! Invite them to open their hearts and to dance and express themselves.

What’s next for Javier & The Wave after this run of shows?

More shows and more music. I write in my journal every day, and songs flow very often. I won’t stop sharing my heart and mind through the power of music. I believe there is no better way for me to do it.
