A Quick Chat with Guy Walton

What inspired you to write 'Streets of Paris'?
A visit to Paris in 2017. The city made a great impression on me, and some events occurred that were very memorable.

You chose to sing part of the song in French, can you tell us more about that?
I sing one phrase in French, and it is a street nameβ€”a street where a very moving moment occurred during my visit.

Was learning and recording the French pronunciation a challenge?
Yes. Even the short phrase was challenging. Combining the phrase with a slightly tricky melody was certainly an interesting exercise.

What memories of Paris are captured in the song?
Specifically, a moving moment that was filled with joy, along with many impressions of such a beautiful and historic city. Paris is the City of Light and Love.

Releasing the single on Bastille Day feels significant. What does that date mean to you?
You could say that the date represents freedom to meβ€”the rising of liberation from powers that suppress. I selected the date because of its French significance, and it seemed like the right moment to align the release. Bastille Day is a powerful day in the French psyche and is connected to an incredibly important historic event. My song and its release are not intended to tap into the sacredness of that occasion. If anything, it's simply my way of saying, "What an amazing place Paris is."

What do you hope listeners take away from 'Streets of Paris'?
I hope they can see a little bit of Paris through my eyesβ€”a magical place filled with inspiration, beauty, and pride.
