THRUPENCE ANNOUNCES DEBUT ALBUM
Having released a series of original mixtapes over the past 6 years, Melbourne producer and multi-instrumentalist Thrupence today announces his forthcoming debut album Ideas of Aesthetics and shares its second single 'Conversations' feat Edward Vanzet. On 'Conversations' Thrupence has kept it in the family by enlisting his brother Edward Vanzet as his very first guest vocalist, featuring on the record alongside Future Classic label mate Wafia. Premiered on triple j last night, 'Conversations' follows on from the album's first crisp cut 'Rinse Repeat'. Thrupence says of the album: "Ideas of Aesthetics is a collection of songs made over the last 6 years - some songs date back to 2011, others were finished in the last six months. It has become a diary of places I've lived and people I've met over this time."
On the lyrical content of 'Conversations', his brother Edward says "it touches on themes of depression, psychosis and loneliness. Writing the lyrics was pretty cathartic, having experienced this first hand and seeing it cause the demise of friends, acquaintances and strangers in my life."
Thrupence has previously supported Nick Murphy (Chet Faker) and played on festival bills alongside the likes of Flume and Shigeto. A talented producer and an equally talented artist, Thrupence designed the album artwork for Ideas of Aesthetics, and in 2016 received and ARIA Award nom for his cover art design of Bloom by RÜFÜS.
deas of Aesthetics by Thrupence is out April 21 via Future Classic.
