VERA BLUE RELEASES THE FIRST TASTE OF HER DEBUT ALBUM

Premiering her new single ‘Private’ on triple j breakfast yesterday, Vera Blue has today released the first official single from her highly anticipated debut album set to be released in 2017.  Available here, ‘Private’ will be supported by a national single tour covering all major capital cities with tickets on-sale today.

On Private, it’s a new sound and a new attitude for Vera Blue. Barely two keyboard chords into the song and she’s there; singing with an intensity never heard before from the girl from small town Forbes.

“It’s basically about wanting someone you can’t have, whether they’re a best friend or a celebrity. You’re basically falling for someone you can’t go for,” Vera Blue says. “It’s the fantasy of wishing you could be with someone but you can’t.”

Vera Blue has felt that all-consuming desire and it’s enough to make her want to explore her full-blown fantasies through music. That exploration has brought passion to the song Private. But there’s juxtaposition here too. The track’s lush synths drop out at moments when her voice takes over with a simple clarity before the layered synth and vocals return for a sonic attack as her lust takes over.

Along with her production team, brothers Andy and Thom Mak, Vera Blue has been exploring things sonically, recording between The Grove Studios on the Central Coast and Sydney’s new Forbes St Studios.

Retaining her captivating quality with new found energy, Vera Blue continues “With Private we weren’t afraid to take it to the next level, adding heavier synths or just whatever suits the mood of what the song was telling us. There is definitely much more confidence, mainly because I went through a bit of heartbreak and things like that can make you a stronger person.”

She’s evolved from the sweet-voiced girl on the Sydney music scene to the strong, confident and in-demand collaborator who made her mark twice on the triple j Hottest 100; coming in at #78 with her solo track ‘Settle’ and then appearing in the top 10 with 3 x Platinum selling track ‘Papercuts’, alongside Melbourne hip-hop artist Illy. The lead track from her debut EP Fingertips ‘Hold’ is now certified GOLDwith over 14 million streams peaking at #1 on the Spotify AU Viral Chart, Top 5 UK/US and Global Spotify Viral Charts. The Fingertips EP peaked at #3 on the iTunes Album Chart, garnered 3 x Top 100 ARIA Chart Singles and has been streamed over 21 million times world-wide to date with glowing reviews.

Currently adding finishing touches her yet to be titled debut album, 2017 is shaping up to be massive for the promising artist. Vera Blue who recently signed to Deep Well / Capitol Records in the U.S and Paradigm Agency in New York will headline her US tour in March including performances at SXSW before returning home for the ‘Private’ Single Tour.
