What does 2021 hold for pinkiscool?

I have to ask, the name, pinkiscool – is there a story there?

There is! I went to a very respectable, but quite masculine and cookie-cutter high school. There was almost a preconception that it was 'cool' to conform in the sense that it was cool to be in the top team for rugby or get the most girls and that kind of thing. I was kind of friends with everyone and thought it would be funny to change my insta handle to 'pinkiscool' to f*ck with the 'cool kids'. It started as a masculinity thing with the traditional pink being a girls colour but has kinda become more of a statement of individuality. So cool to see really big artists like Billie and Harry pushing a similar thing at the moment :).

You’ve talked about your latest single ‘Lose My Mind’ as being about happiness coming and going, of imperfections – can you tell us about where this inspiration comes from?

I've been through a lot in my short life, and I have no doubt that you or whoever is reading this has too. I think it's unreasonable to try and reach a 'destination' where you're happy all the fricken time, as great as that sounds, it's not very realistic. There's a difference between being content and being happy in quite a transient way. Life isn't perfect. In fact most of the time it fucking sucks, but hey, find your people, do whatever makes you feel good, go watch some live music or have a picnic and actually enjoy the small amount of time we have on this floating rock.

Three songs you’ve got on repeat right now?

Tough pick!

1. Can You Feel My Heart - Bring Me The Horizon

- One of the only metal bands I really like but oh my are they good. It's so rockstar and so emotional at the same time, makes me feel cool just listening.

2. Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nirvana

- Bit of a pedestrian choice out of all of the Nirvana songs but HEY it's still them and its still Kurt - Do i need to say anymore?

3. Still Into you - Paramore

Bit of a throwback but I love Paramore so much - absolute banger and makes me feel like I'm in a movie.

Dream collaborations?

It's an odd one but I'd love to do a song with the Veronica's, their music has so much sentimental value to my life, from being my first concert, to literally blowing the speakers in my first car listening to untouched with my friends - feel like it'd be so full circle to have a track with them.

Where does pinkiscool start when writing a song?
What’s your process?

Most of the time it's with the music - maybe chords or a beat unless I have something super specific I want to write about, but most of the time I'll have a bit of an instrumental or work with one of my friends and then write and record lyrics over the top. After that its just polishing and perfecting until it gets released!

Two things people probably don’t know about you?

Number one -  when I was about seven I went on a father son camp and we ate a bunch of candy on the bus so pretty much every kid was on a massive sugar high by the time we got there, after putting our stuff down in the room on the way to dinner, as we were leaving, dad accidentally closed the hinges of the door on my ring finger and it cut it clean off (OOF) they literally picked it up and stitched it back on so now I have a strange lookin finger and it makes it extra difficult to play guitar. (BET U WEREN'T EXPECTING THAT)

And Number two

I accidentally, but quite regularly, get the address wrong on my uber eats and order food to my friend's houses or wherever the last place I was on my phone is. It's a real problem I need help.

What does 2021 hold for pinkiscool?

Well it definitely holds more music (and potentially an EP! more on that soon) but other than that wherever it takes me! Just hoping to grow and achieve as much as I can and continue working with all the people that i love :)
