What are some of the things The Letter Elle is most grateful for these days?

Hey Elle! Congrats on ‘Faithful’ - We believe you’ve been working on the song for a while.
How did you know it was finally time to release?

Thank you so much! I have been slowly crafting this song for a while. I first wrote the track for an assignment I had in my first year of uni. This song is the one that really inspired me to pursue production and I think the reason it took so long was because I needed time to develop my craft and form it into what it is now. The track started as a guitar loop with a very basic beat, some synth and the lead vocals. I am now a qualified and much more experienced producer and have built it into a work that I can really be proud of.

Word on the grapevine is that you collaborated with renowned Brissy producer Harry Fox for this one - how did that collaboration start?

Harry and I are actually collaborating on another track (stay tuned) that is the track that started our friendship. He booked me for a show at a venue he used to help out with and we started chatting production and set up a day to start a track. Whilst we’re still producing this one, I got Harry on board to do my final mix as I really trusted him to work with my ever-growing production ideas. It was an awesome mix and I was so happy with how hard he worked on it!

Your previous single ‘Sunrise’ was the first time you’d released something you self-produced, how has ‘Faithful’ built on that?

‘Sunrise’ I produced and mixed myself which was a huge process. It was an awesome challenge but man, mixing your own tracks can be painful! I wanted to try out being more of the producer of this track. I had basically half-mixed the track when I decided to get Harry involved because I just wanted another pair of ears on it and to save myself some time. I also think he’s incredible at what he does so wanted his input on the work. This track has a lot of intricate layers such as 9 flute and 37 vocal tracks which were a long process to get to where they are.

We’re almost through 2020 (thankfully)! What are you most excited about 2021 potentially bringing?

Oh my goodness I have no idea. With the way 2020 is going I hardly know what I’m doing tomorrow! I have hopes for more live music and getting back on track, but honestly I don’t know how to answer this one. I think we’re all just hoping to get past this crazy time.

What are some of the things you’re most grateful for these days?

I’m grateful for a lot of things. I’m so lucky to live where I do, especially in the current time. My current rental is up in the mountains and our deck looks out onto the ocean. Every morning I wake up and think “you know what, life’s pretty good”. I have so many amazingly supportive people around me as well. My partner and his family are so wonderful and I’m so fortunate to have them in my life by chance. My close friends keep me sane and from working too much. I’m very grateful for them haha. My family are also wonderful and support me a lot. I’m also grateful to have people that support my career because there’s a lot of people out there who don’t take music as a serious career.

Any shows coming up for fans to see ‘Faithful’ performed live?

Yes! Despite the current pandemic, I have managed to put on a mini tour around South East Queensland! I’ll be performing at the Gold Coast on the 17th, Sunshine Coast on the 19th and Brisbane on the 24th. All details are on my socials!
