SARAH MCLEOD RELEASES FIRST SINGLE "GIANTS" & NEW VIDEO ANNOUNCES SOLO ALBUM OUT AUGUST NATIONAL TOUR DATES

It’s been 12 years since her first solo work. Now, ARIA Award winning, platinum-selling artist Sarah McLeod is set to release her highly anticipated forthcoming studio album ROCKY’S DINER on August 18, 2017 via Kobalt.

ROCKY’S DINER marks a radical change of creative gears for Sarah, who created the album in near-complete isolation during a three-month stint in New York. She bunkered down in the bitter cold, watching the world go by outside her Brooklyn apartment, finding her muse in watching the lives of locals.

"I took my whole studio set up in a Samsonite hard case.  Desktop computer and all, wrapped tightly in bubble wrap. There was zero room for clothes except for what I was wearing, I figured I'd buy more clothes when I got there. I wasn't planning on going anywhere so I didn't need much, the lack of party attire would hopefully eliminate any temptation to party, I was here to work." - Sarah McLeod

The album also drew inspiration from Sylvester Stallone’s slugfest "Rocky” franchise and draws imagery from her experiences eating out in New York’s Little Italy district.

Giving us an exciting taste of the long-awaited album, the first single “Giants” is an anthem built to the scale of its title, exploring the drama and damage of anger. Sarah sings a story of pain and frustration over roaring guitars and pounding drums. She explains, “Through your own pain, you become an inflamed version of yourself . You put up walls , make mistakes and act out of character. This inflamed version is the giant that unintentionally causes pain to other people.”

Sarah also wrote the treatment for the animated video to "Giants”, a beautiful visual accompaniment to the single.

Following her achievements as the front woman of South Australian rock-band The Superjesus, she made her first move as a solo artist in 2005 with her debut album BEAUTY WAS A TIGER. Now, she continues this exciting journey with ROCKY’S DINER.

McLeod also had multiple club hits with her solo song “He Doesn't Love You” and “Hurricane”, a Euro-house collaboration with Dzeko and Torres. She’s toured the country in 2016 with The Baby Animals on the She Who Rocks Tour and, in one of the most special moments of her career, Sarah McLeod, as well as The Superjesus, were inducted into the South Australian Music Hall of Fame this year.

To celebrate the release, The Music presents Sarah McLeod "Giants" Single TourSarahwill be playing shows around the country in August, before embarking on a national regional tour later in the year.
