REVIEW: The Hives - Forum, Melbourne
Words by: Lachlan Bradford
If you do one thing before you die… see The Hives live.
Last night at The Forum, Melbourne, The Hives reminded everyone what a real rock show feels like — unhinged energy, sharp as hell, and stupid amounts of fun.
They ripped through classics like Main Offender, Walk Idiot Walk, Try It Again, and Hate To Say I Told You So with the kind of tightness most bands can only dream of. The crowd? Absolutely cooked. In the best way.
New tracks slapped too — Countdown to Shutdown, Paint a Picture, Enough Is Enough — all hit with the same raw swagger. No filler.
Howlin’ Pelle was on another level. Sprinting through the crowd, sculling beers on the bar, delivering outrageous banter between songs like a rock’n’roll preacher. Total showman.
It was sweaty, loud, and completely off its head — exactly how it should be.
See The Hives live. No excuses.
