Review: Saosin – Forum, Melbourne

Last night at Forum Melbourne felt like a full-blown time warp, in the best way. The Saosin 20-year anniversary tour for their self-titled record pulled every elder emo out of hiding, and the room was packed with exactly the kind of people you’d expect: nostalgic, a little chaotic, self-aware, and absolutely there for the music.
Fallweather opened with serious intent, bringing big energy, bigger screams, and setting the tone early. Then Senses Fail came in and completely took over. Huge presence, tight as anything, and the crowd was all in, with wall-to-wall singalongs. “Bite to Break Skin,” “Choke on This,” “Calling All Cars,” and “Buried A Lie” all triggered proper mosh pit chaos. Safe to say, everyone, especially the front rows, was loving it.
By the time Saosin hit the stage, the energy was already peaking, and they didn’t miss a step. Super tight, dialled in, and clearly feeding off the crowd. You could feel how much it meant, with band and audience locked in, screaming every word back like no time had passed since the MySpace days.
What stood out most was the atmosphere: a room full of people who have grown up, taken some hits, and built lives, but still found their way back to the music that got them through it all. It wasn’t just a gig; it was a shared memory, loud and cathartic. A genuinely phenomenal night.
