NICOLAS JAAR ANNOUNCES AN EXCLUSIVE AUSTRALIAN HEADLINE DATE THIS MARCH

Chilean-American electronic composer, Nicolas Jaar, today reveals that he will play an exclusive one-off headline show at Sydney’s Metro Theatre on Monday 13th March, with tickets going on sale on Monday 6th February at 10am AEDT. This will be Jaar’s only headline performance outside of his already announced Golden Plains festival appearance.

Released in late-2016, Jaar’s new album ‘Sirens’ follows on from his critically acclaimed debut, ‘Space Is Only Noise’. The 2011 release, made when Jaar was just 21 years old, became a crossover hit, landing at the top of multiple 2011 Album of the Year charts and launching Jaar’s career.

Sirens’ sees Jaar reemerge five years on, with what Pitchfork describes as a “thoughtful study in contrasts, both musical and political”. Lush soundscapes give way to euphoric ambient breaks. “Jaar’s knowledge of his own palette is masterful in every moment”, they note. “More poetic and thoughtful than ever before, Jaar maintains an ability to fit seemingly disparate sounds together as if they were always meant to find each other… it is the mark of an enduring electronic composer”.

Jaar’s live show is characterized by its minimal production; his electronic performance art stands on its own, enhanced by strategically placed lights and occasional clouds of smoke across sprawling fluid sets.

“By building bridges between various points on the electronic spectrum, Jaar’s performance offered a glimpse of what a world without genre boundaries might look like”, said Resident Advisor of a recent New York City show. The UK’s Independent similarly admired Jaar’s live show in a recent review, stating, “It is mercurial stuff: as leftfield talents go, Jaar is a rare one”.

Nicolas Jaar creates dance music that bridges the space between high art and the club; an artist in the truest sense of the word.
