MAJOR LEAGUES ANNOUNCE DEBUT 'GOOD LOVE' ALBUM OUT JUNE 16 + SHARE TITLE TRACK 'GOOD LOVE'
Brisbane garage pop four-piece Major Leagues today reveal new single 'Good Love', the title track off their upcoming debut album which they're proud to announce will be out June 16 via Popfrenzy. The album, produced by acclaimed Australian artist Jonathan Boulet, will also feature the recently released single 'It Was Always You'.
Lead-singer Anna Davidson explains, βWe went into the studio planning on recording 5 or 6 songs and came out with 12, which was weird... but cool. This is definitely the most collaborative thing we've ever done, which I think comes through in the sound of the record. It sounds more natural and cohesive than our previous stuff. Usually Jaimee and I have very separate writing processes (especially after I moved to Melbourne), but with a lot of these songs, we built them from the ground up together.β
Over 2013βs βWeird Seasonβ EP and 2016βs βDream Statesβ EP, Major Leagues have become synonymous with their unique brand of DIY pop characterised by stunning vocal harmonies, crisp lo-fi production and nostalgic undertones. Singles such as βEndless Drainβ, βSomeone Sometimeβ, βBetter Offβ and βTeen Mumsβ have been championed by radio stations such triple j, triple j Unearthed, FBi 94.5FM, Triple R, RTRFM and 4ZZZ. βSilver Tidesβ also caught the attention of iconic indie rock outfit The National who featured the song on their βInfinity Radioβ playlist.
Major Leagues have toured relentlessly in between releases, recently performing headline shows in Sydney and Brisbane. Prior to these dates the band have played alongside an exceptional lineup of international and local talent including Beach Fossils (USA), Alvvays (CAN), Wild Nothing (USA), Wye Oak (USA), San Cisco, The Preatures and DMAβs.
