Annie Bass Returns with ‘Don’t Want’

Annie Bass Returns with ‘Don’t Want’  With production from Christopher Port

After Annie Bass’ break out debut ‘While I’m Waiting’ landed her firmly on one’s-to-watch lists for the entirety of 2016, the perfectionist producer and vocalist is back with her new single ‘Don’t Want’. With Melbourne’s Christopher Port on production duties, the Pieater provides the perfect foil - adding deep undercurrent to the collaboration, which takes the track deeper and deeper, floating effortlessly between warm, sunset-flecked electronica, and a darker journey into a 2-step house beat inspired by late night UK garage.

A heady mixture of Annie's now signature swoon-worthy lyricisms, showcasing from contagious chorus to flying falsetto, her true talent lies in her storytelling – channelling the heartfelt melancholy of The Cure, told in an entirely modern manner. Of the collaboration with Port Annie, laughs at their joint inspiration for ‘Don’t Want’ - Artful Dodger meets Robert Smith:

“I saw Chris play at Volumes in Sydney earlier in the year and it was one of the best sets I’ve ever seen, his production was so dynamic. I hit him up straight away and the stars seemed to align. The track shifts between a conversation with myself, and a conversation with another. ”

Annie Bass has not stopped since her last single, landing on line-ups and stages across the country – from sets at Secret Garden, Falls Festival to supporting Elisabeth Rose, Banoffee and Nicole Millar, earning her stripes as not only a talented artist – but a mesmerizing performer too. Stay tuned for more from Annie Bass across 2017.
