RYAN EDMOND – AMS QUICK CHAT

1: ‘Stockholm’ is such a dreamy, soothing offering. What inspired the track, and what is it about?
Thanks heaps! This song is inspired by the differences and similarities of living in between two different countries. From the surf and sand culture of Australia to the mountains and forests of Sweden. I want people to have their own interpretation of the song. Although for me, this song is about my journey of falling in love, leaving my 9 - 5 job, pursuing music and living in another country on the other side of the world.

2: Being the multi-instrumentalist you are, what’s your favourite instrument that you always try to incorporate into your music?
My favourite instrument is my cornet. My Grandfather taught me from a young age, although once I was in my teens, I quit playing. I began playing again a few years ago and incorporate it into almost all of my songs in the studio and a few when playing live. Once my Grandfather passed away, I was given his cornet, so it has a place close to my heart.

3: You’ve played a number of shows this year in home territory and overseas. Do you change up your live show depending on the country you’re in? And what experiences do you strive to give your audience?
My solo shows stay pretty much the same, my setup consists of guitar, stomp box, loop and cornet. Although since I am living between Sweden and Australia, it’s hard to keep the one band. So, I am super stoked to have a band based here in Sweden now, and also the band I recorded the songs with back in Australia, although they are quite busy, they are usually keen to play and make it work!! I’ve been focusing on the dynamics of the full show, trying to keep the audience engaged. My goal is for people to leave the show feeling like they have been on a journey, not just watch myself or a band play some songs.

4: With an Australian tour locked in for January 2020, the new year seems promising already. What can we expect from Ryan Edmond after this?
I am super excited for this year. I will be releasing my third single in the coming months and I am currently planning a European summer tour! I am also aiming to release my debut album around June 2020! So, there is a lot of work to be done, although I am really looking forward to the challenge!
