A Quick Chat with Nana’s Pie
You’re playing The Triffid on 12 November as part of Live Nation’s Next On series. How are you feeling about this one?
Pretty excited! There’s a lot that goes into putting on your own show, so getting to this point and knowing people are coming along to hear our songs is a really good feeling. We want to make a proper night of it and have everyone leave feeling like they’ve been part of something special with us.
You’ve toured with Boy & Bear, The Dreggs and The Vanns, among others. What’s something you’ve learnt from watching those bands that you’ve taken into your own shows?
You learn heaps being around other bands. Even just watching how they put a set together or connect with people in the room gives you things to think about. We’re still fine tuning things ourselves, so getting those opportunities has been really valuable. It makes you want to go out and play better every night.
For someone who’s never seen Nana’s Pie live, what are they in for at The Triffid? Any songs you’re especially keen to get stuck into?
Three mates having a very good time on stage, hopefully with everyone else joining in! We love those moments when people start singing back at us. We’ll have a mix of newer songs and some older ones, so there’ll be plenty to get into even if you haven’t seen us before! We’re particularly excited to play “till the morning” . It's our favourite track to date, really shows where our sound is headed.
What’s next after this tour? More music, more shows, or a bit of time to catch your breath?
No slowing down just yet! We want to keep building on everything we've worked so hard to create independently. More writing, another single potentially in December, some epic shows planned for 2027 and hopefully a few new places along the way! We're constantly learning, pushing ourselves creatively and finding new ways to get our music in front of more people. There's always another idea cooking or something we're itching to try, so we're pretty excited to see where it all takes us. The best is yet to come!
