PASSERINE release "post-apocalyptic meets galactic pop" single 'More Human'
Following the release of critically acclaimed previous singles Undergrowth, Synthetic Heart, and White Shadows And Grey Noise along with a bevy of exalted remixes, Melbourne galactic dark-pop trio Passerine today release More Human, the arresting titular single from their impending third EP, out June 8.
Opening with warping then urgently pulsating synths, More Human's gritty, defiant strength is undeniable. Nebulous and more theatrical than the trio's previous releases, the track is driven by vocalist/violist Phoebe Dubar's ability to build tension with her vocals: at first restrained, then grand and ascendant; drummer Alex Gooding's biting percussion, and live producer Benjamin Murphy's vivid, snarling foundation. Penned after a prolonged trip into the Australian desert, More Human evokes the freedom and power of the raw natural landscape.
Having embarked on multiple headline tours including for their previous EP The Morning After/The Night Before; appeared at festivals and events such as The Hills Are Alive, Melbourne Fringe Festival, I'm New Here Festival, The Australian Open and counting PBS, RRR, Indie Shuffle, Kick Kick Snare (US) and This Song Slaps (US) among their myriad supporters, Passerine's "teeth" aren't simply "cut", they're razor-sharp. With the trio poised to release their More Human EP next month, stay tuned for more from Passerine in the coming weeks.
