OUR FRIENDS ELECTRIC LAUNCH 'SUPER 8’ MUSIC VIDEO COMPETITION
Today, Our Friends Electric announce ‘SUPER 8’, an exciting new original music awards competition centred around the medium of the music video. The winner will be announced at the Super 8 awards night held at an iconic Sydney music venue in late November 2017. Launching today hopeful contestants can enter HERE with a $55 entry fee. Entries close Wednesday, 1st November 2017.
Super 8 is proudly supported by APRA / AMCOS who say - "We're here for the music. We help music creators get paid for their work and give music users easy ways to legally play and copy what they like. Royalties keep the music coming and ensure the industry’s future. And that’s what we all want to hear.”
To enter contestants will be supplied with access to the above pre-shot music video with no sound, and are encouraged to track their own original composition to the video. The compositions do not need to be written or recorded for the competition itself, however the music does need to be original and composed by the artist entering the awards.
Eight finalists, or the ‘SUPER 8’, will be selected from the entrants to be judged at the awards night. Super 8 culminates with a live event experience with the short-listed finalists either playing live to the video on the night or, if based on your musical approach and output you can’t perform live, a playback in front of a panel of esteemed industry judges. The event will take place at one of Sydney’s leading independent music venues in late November 2017.
Cost to enter is $55 with APRA members receiving a discount which will be provided to them via the APRA EDM.

Super 8 is the brainchild of Sydney based creatives Tim Freeland and, Lachlan Bruce. Both avid music enthusiasts, the pair were keen to create a platform to showcase new and exciting musical talent in Australia as well as give them the tools to launch their careers in a climate where it is increasingly hard to gain record lable support.
