Methyl Ethel, the brainchild of musical polymath Jake Webb, have announced an Australian tour kicking off this November in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide. Full tour details and ticket links below.
Methyl Ethel have been making waves, selling out every headline show in the country since 2016 and topping the album and singles charts (for βUbuβ and βDrink Wineβ). The third most played artist on triple j this year (ranking higher than Lorde and Kendrick Lamar), Methyl Ethelβs second album Everything Is Forgotten out via Dot Dash / Remote Control is winning over fans in the northern hemisphere, with their recent London show at Shacklewell Arms selling out in less than 24 hours.
Earlier this summer Methyl Ethel were invited by Huw Stephens to record a BBC Radio 1 session at the legendary Maida Vale studios. Listen back to the live renditions of βDrink Wineβ, βUbuβ, βNo. 28β, βGroundswellβ and βLβHeure des SorcieΜresβ via the BBC iPlayer. In addtion, their latest single βDrink Wineβ receiving heavy A-list rotation on BBC 6Music and saw them perform a session with Lauren Laverne. Watch here via BBC iPlayer.
Everything Is Forgotten is a vivid, compelling and mysterious creature; all sinewy, curvaceous pop nuggets and enigmatic currents. Written and recorded by Perth-based Webb, it was brought to life by acclaimed British producer James Ford (Arctic Monkeys, Foals). The pairβs collaboration has infused Methyl Ethelβs shoegaze dream-pop palate with electronic and polyrhythmic flourishes, allowing Webbβs keening, gender- fluid vocals and searing poetry to take centre stage.
