REVIEW: Alex Warren - Margaret Court Arena – Melbourne, VIC

The night opened with Medium Build, who instantly won over the Melbourne crowd with his self-deprecating humour and soulful voice. Between songs he joked about not doing a shoey but the crowd wore him down until he gave in. He even delivered a Harry Styles cover as promised, leaning into the joke that people might know that better than his own music. By the end of his set though it was obvious that Medium Build is a star in his own right.

When Alex Warren hit the stage the atmosphere lifted. He opened with Burning Down, Before You Leave Me and Catch My Breath, three songs that showed his strength as both a performer and storyteller. The audience played a huge role throughout the night with signs waving, fans trying to catch his eye, and even a gender reveal moment that had Alex pausing to announce “Congrats Georgia, it’s a boy.” Fans also brought along bandanas for his four Australian Shepherds, a reminder of the personal connection he shares with his community both on and off the internet.

The emotional centrepiece of the night was You’ll Be Alright, Kid, a song Warren wrote as a letter to his 12 year old self after losing both of his parents. The vulnerability in the performance resonated deeply with fans who related to his story of loss and resilience.

Later in the set Bloodline and Carry You Home brought the arena to life, proving to be two of the biggest crowd favourites. Warren then stepped off the stage for a moment, telling the crowd he was finished before cheekily adding that of course he would be back.

The encore saw him return quickly to deliver Eternity before closing on his biggest hit Ordinary. It was a powerful finale that left the arena buzzing.

The show was a journey filled with love, grief, healing and self-discovery. Warren’s honesty and vulnerability turned Margaret Court Arena into a shared space of emotion and connection, giving fans a night they will remember for a long time.
