JIM LAWRIE Slacker of the Year out today!

Jim Lawrie has today released his album Slacker of the Year via Barely Dressed Records / Remote Control Records. His most ambitious work yet, the album is a culmination of years of creative introspection, Jim’s own gloriously crafted interpretation of classic rock and folk.

Recorded and mixed by Callum John Barter at Newmarket Studios, Slacker of the Year could technically be considered a break up album, but its focus is more on the exploration of new love rather than the idea of dwelling on love lost.

The template for Jim Lawrie’s music was established in 2015 with his critically adored album Eons. An album which took his 1970’s FM rock influences (Tom Petty, Fleetwood Mac, CSN) and filtered them through the viewpoint of a twenty-something Melbournian.

As always, Lawrie’s vocal purity is the focus on Slacker of the Year, but this time the songs take flight with a new sophistication. Melodic, sincere and warm, this album moves his sound onwards and upwards to beautiful, widescreen heights.

Jim will be launching this album with a Melbourne show in late July. Supports are to be announced in the coming weeks.
