Australian Spotify playlists you can easily pitch to

Before anything else, if your music is not on Spotify yet, make sure you always use an Australian distributor like G.Y.R.O or Community Music. Supporting local distributors means better support, better understanding of the Australian industry and your money staying in the local ecosystem.

We get asked all the time what Australian Spotify playlists are actually worth pitching to.

Not the massive editorial lists that feel impossible to land, but playlists run by real people. Curators who listen, reply and are actively supporting Australian artists without the gatekeeping.

The good news is there are plenty of them. The even better news is most of them are far more accessible than you think if you approach them the right way.

Below is a growing list of Australian Spotify playlists that regularly feature local artists, along with how to pitch them properly.

The Australian Music Scene - AMS

If you’re new here, we of course recommend starting with our own playlist.

We focus on discovering and supporting emerging Australian artists across genres, with new releases added daily.

All submission details and requirements are available here

Australian artists only, released within the last 7 days.

The Underground Stage – New Australian Music

How to get on it:
The Underground Stage uses a simple submission form that lets the curator follow Australian artists directly on Spotify. Once you’re followed, they’re automatically notified whenever you release new music.

All you need to do is submit your Spotify artist URL. No emails, no DMs, no follow-ups.
Before submitting, you can check if you’re already followed. If you are, you don’t need to do anything else.

Australian artists only. Submit here

Discovery: The Best New Music – The AU Review

How to get on it:
There’s no direct playlist submission form. Tracks are added via editorial coverage and premieres on The AU Review.

Artists should pitch new releases to the editorial team at: editor@theaureview.com

The strongest pathway is premiering a track or securing coverage on the site. If your release is featured, it’s typically added to the Discovery playlist alongside other weekly picks.

Give at least 7 days’ notice when pitching premieres. The AU Review is a volunteer-run publication and prioritises quality, fit and unique angles over speed.

Australian artists are strongly prioritised.

Friday Finds: The Week’s Best New Music – themusic.com.au

How to get on it:
There’s no direct playlist submission form. Tracks are added through editorial consideration by themusic.com.au

Artists and publicists should pitch new releases to: editorial@themusic.com.au

The playlist reflects the site’s weekly new music picks, so the strongest pathway is securing editorial coverage or being flagged as part of a new release cycle.

Due to volume, they don’t reply to individual pitches. Australian artists are prioritised.

Mixtape – Acid Stag

How to get on it:
Submissions are handled via Acid Stag’s paid submission form and include consideration for website coverage, socials and Spotify playlist placement.

Artists can submit songs, EPs, albums, music videos or playlist placement here

Submissions are reviewed within 48 hours.

Requirements:
SoundCloud links are required for music submissions
Releases must be out now and no older than two weeks

The AAA Backstage Weekly Catch – Freshest Tunes

How to get on it:
Submissions are accepted directly and third-party platforms. Playlist adds come via editorial selection rather than direct Spotify submission.

Artists can submit via:
Direct submission, Groover & Musosoup

Submissions require a streaming link, asset folder (press images, release info) and a short pitch (approx. 100 words). Feedback is provided within 72 hours. Placement is not guaranteed.

If successful, artists may receive website coverage, social media support and playlist inclusion.

Cash Radio – AUD’$

How to get on it:
Cash Radio is curated alongside AUD’$ editorial coverage. There’s no direct Spotify submission, but artists can submit tracks, videos and news via AUD’$’ submission form.

Submissions are reviewed by the editorial team, though responses aren’t guaranteed due to volume. For a guaranteed and timely response, submissions can also be made via SubmitHub.

Why this playlist matters:
This is one of the most important playlists for Australian hip hop and urban music. JUNOR, Matthew and the AUD’$ team have put in an enormous amount of work championing emerging talent, long before there was a clear pathway for urban music discovery in Australia.

Before AUD’$, there genuinely wasn’t a dedicated platform doing this at scale. Absolute legends of the scene.

We’re sure there are plenty more Australian playlists out there doing great work. If you run one or know of a playlist we should add, please reach out and let us know so we can keep this guide up to date.
