Sydney-based folk-indie singer and guitarist Alex the Astronaut is thrilled to announce her forthcoming second EP See You Soon. Led by the incredibly moving new single ‘Not Worth Hiding’, which was premiered on triple j Good Nights with Linda Marigliano last night and available on all streaming services today, See You Soon will be released via her Minkowski Records label on Friday October 6.

‘Not Worth Hiding’ is a coming of age song in its purest form. Bounded by thumping drums and simple chords, it’s a catchy, raw, and deeply personal track about finding yourself and being your true self in love, despite what expectations other people might have. Alex the Astronaut played ‘Not Worth Hiding’ live for the first time at Splendour In The Grass this year, and it wasn’t long before she was competing with audience applause and cheers as she sang of what it felt like the day she had one of her biggest realisations at aged 16.

The See You Soon EP continues the journey of Alex the Astronaut’s signature stream-of-consciousness lyrics, and covers a range of themes close to the singer and guitarists heart. Love, life, the wonders of meeting someone in New York and what Sydney is like in the winter, the See You Soon EP is five insightfully written tracks that will strengthen Alex the Astronaut’s standing as one the most exciting young songwriters of our time.

Alex the Astronaut has enjoyed had a stellar year around the release of her stunning debut To Whom It May Concern EP in March. Released while Alex was wrapped up in finishing her studies in maths and physics in New York, it featured the immensely popular singles ‘Rockstar City’ and ‘Already Home’, the latter of which has gone on to have over 1,000,000 streams on Spotify.

Since moving back to Sydney in May, Alex the Astronaut has toured nationally as support to Lisa MitchellDustin Tebbutt and Montaigne, during which Lunchbox TV noted Alex played with “confidence, charisma and warmth.” She played the Science Tent at Splendour In The Grass and even had her first on air chat with fellow science nerd Dr. Karl, where they discussed all things positronium and sonoluminescence (it’s okay we don’t know either).

‘Not Worth Hiding’ is a beautifully pure insight into growing up, and the first taste of her forthcoming second EP See You Soon, out October 6.
