A Quick Chat with tomorrow’s forecast

Congrats on the release of ‘Pocket Monday’! Can you tell us a bit more about what the song means to you?

Thanks so much! We are super excited to have ‘Pocket Money’ out into the world. This song is definitely our most experimental, and showcases a sillier and more sarcastic side of us. We wrote this one altogether and it definitely drew inspiration from bands we love like Wet Leg, Le Tigre and Momma. I think we wanted to show that we don’t take ourselves too seriously and have a little bit of fun with this one. It’s super exciting as it’s our last single of our Sophomore EP, so we were keen to announce that alongside this song.

Where did the name Tomorrow’s Forecast originate from?

I (Olive) used to lie about this all the time, it’s kind of embarrassing… When we were super young, Bonnie and I used to obsess over other bands, and celebrities we loved. I actually started a fanfiction where Bonnie and I were in a band together, and I named it Tomorrow’s Forecast. We started a real-life band shortly after at age 14, and we thought why not use it, and I mean it’s lasted us this long so I’m glad we did.

What’s your favourite show you’ve played so far?

This is a super hard question. We've been lucky enough to play some really awesome shows. Our Townsville show with Hockey Dad in 2023 definitely has to be up there, but we also played a great show with The Delta Riggs at The Northern last year, I think those two are our favourites.

Which artists are on your high rotation playlist right now?

Right now I’m listening to a lot of Lime Garden, Coldwave, Screamfeeder and Wet Leg.

What TV show are you bingeing at the moment?

Currently bingeing Sex and the City, I’m up to the fourth season and I love it so much, I have been really into 90s/00s shows lately.

What was the first gig / concert you ever went to?

My first ever show was a music festival in Coolangatta in 2019, The Jungle Giants, Hockey Dad and Ivey played. I went with Bonnie and it was super fun.

Plans for 2025?

Well, our Sophomore EP ‘Speaking Terms’ releases on June 20th, and we are following it with our biggest tour yet from July-August down the East Coast. After that, we are hoping to start writing an album and play as many shows as we can.
