A Quick Chat with Babe Rainbow
Can you tell us what ACID AND HONEY means to you and what you want people to take away from it?
Acid and honey aka mild to wild aka the beautiful new language that nobody but you and god could understand
Who are some of your influences, and why?
Bassists like Orlando βCachaitoβ Lopez, Carlitos Puerto Jr. There have been so many excellent and original bass players throughout the ages, not only Latin American but the world over. Interestingly the βsalsaβ bass players from the U.S and elsewhere have really influenced us here in Australia, bass playing is a spiritual concept, as is playing with a lot of βsaborβ (flavor)
What's the creative process for you, from writing through to recording?
The groove is all about the space AROUND the note, thatβs how I approach the music, opening your mind to all kinds of music, you have to love all types, country stuff, blues, jazz, the pretenders, even Frank Sinatra, our inventory is huge! The point is I like everything and so we just like do our own boogie woogie version of whatever an then we turn it into 120-decibel Dixieland madness with drums, vocals and an attitude of trying to do βwhatβs right
What do you think makes a great song?
Great tone
If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?
Any alternative rockers from the 90s like Brian bombers, Ray brown. And legends like Jack bruce, Jack Cassidy, Stanley clarke
When not working on music, what other creative outlet/s do you have?
Op shopping
Who are some local bands we should check out?
In Byron Bay? Ummm Kool breeze and the trees! Benjamin Walsh quartet? anybody playing at Dingo fest
What else do you have planned for 2026?
Just working on my goofball solos and my signature βsteady but looseβ feel
