With just weeks to go until Australia’s quintessential music festival Splendour In The Grass kicks off in Byron Bay, [V] has enlisted rock icon and lead singer of Magic Dirt, Adalita, alongside Australia’s queen of hip hop and master hit-maker Tkay Maidza to host the official [V] interviews at this year’s festival.

Adalita and Tkay are two of the country’s most renowned, strong leading ladies of music, who together have played pivotal roles in putting Australia on the world map for quality rock and boundary-pushing hip hop and rap. Camping out backstage in the artist area with unprecedented VIP access, Adalita and Tkay will be shaking drinks, chatting beats and catching all the action backstage to bring viewers exclusive interviews with some of the world’s biggest artists and the best in home-grown talent.

Trailblazing her way through the indie rock scene, Adalita first made her mark at Splendour in the Grass at the festival’s debut in 2001, reigning supreme with her cult band Magic Dirt while playing alongside Powderfinger, Michael Franti and The John Butler Trio. Adalita has since forged a hugely successful career as a solo artist releasing two albums to date and a third in the works.

Adalita said: “Super excited to be guest presenting at Splendour In The Grass 2018 for Channel [V]. Magic Dirt has had an important connection and history with both Splendour & Channel [V] and I can’t wait to reunite with both of them on the other side of the curtain, interviewing some of the best Aussie and International acts around with my amazing co-presenter Tkay Maidza. It’s gonna be a blast! “

11 years later, Adelaide’s Tkay Maidza slayed back-to-back years in 2014 and 2015, impressing crowds with her progressive, genre-blurring rap sound which has re-invented Australian hip hop and established a major global presence. Dubbed as a “pint-sized performer with a gigantic talent”, Tkay Maizda has become one of the country’s most celebrated MCs, festival must-sees and an all-star collaborator.

On co-hosting [V] at Splendour this year, Tkay said: “I’ve grown up watching Channel [V] and have had the pleasure to be interviewed by them in the last couple of years and it’s always been super fun, I’m so excited that I get to do something different and switch up the roles with Adalita by my side! It’s going to be a great Splendour In The Grass.”
