SYDNEY’S MOST INNOVATIVE STREET ART FESTIVAL ‘PERFECT MATCH’ RETURNS TO THE INNER WEST THIS AUGUST

With a firm focus on showcasing Sydney’s Inner West as an artistic hub, as well as celebrating bold and diverse art in public spaces, Perfect Match is back for it’s 4th year. View 15 new works created for 2017, as well as some of the best of the existing street artworks across the vibrant Inner West from 4-6 August.

Once again playing creative cupid, Inner West Council carefully partners residents, businesses and property owners of the Inner West with visual artists of multiple mediums, transforming walls into works of bold and celebratory art curated by, and enjoyed with, the community. Perfect Match tackles problem graffiti by fostering creative expression in public places.

Returning this year are the likes of local born and bred artist Phibs, oddball illustrator Mulga The Artist and renowned Jumboist, whose colourful creations transformed the facade of Newtown’s Asylum Seeker Centre into a masterpiece in 2015. Other featured artists include Georgia Hill, Dan Wenn, Rebecca Lourey, Brad RobsonThomas Jackson, George Rose, Sharon Billinge, Akisiew, Alex Lehours, Nico, Kyle Hughes-Odgers, Sid Tapia, and Hugues Sineux.

Then on Saturday 5 August, join community celebrations and meet artist Alex Lehours as he applies finishing touches to his new work inspired by heritage and stories of the historic Vicar’s Woollen Mill in Marrickville. Enjoy an artist talk at Enmore Park and then hop on a free “whistle stop” train tour with Culture Scouts to experience street art and culture at communities along the line from Newtown to Ashfield.

And on Sunday 6 August, Sydenham is the focus. Take a guided tour and discover art laden laneways and innovative creative industries amidst the gritty industrial landscape. Catch street artist Thomas Jackson at work and watch artist Dan Wenn as he applies finishing touches to a surreal utopian green space in the heart of the Sydenham industrial and creative precinct. In the afternoon the public are invited to celebrate the weekend with the Perfect Match artists at Batch Brewery, which will also host free music and digital kids experience with an Arythmetek installation.
